We work with Family Literacy programs across Canada.
Our partners work in schools, daycares, Head Start programs, community centres and libraries to reach families from immigrant, First Nations, and inner-city communities.
Our partners include our books in programs that focus on imaginative play, crafts, reading aloud, and other enrichment activities. The programs and activities are as varied as the families, yet one thing remains the same: each child will bring home a beautifully illustrated book of their own!
We see play as being the critical component of learning. Children’s play is an exploratory and expressive process, which guides children in participating and making sense of the world.

THE MAGIC OF STORIES
We appreciate that the books come from backgrounds as diverse as the children in our programs. Last year our families came from 72 different countries and spoke 50 different languages.
– ABC Head Start Society
We’ve given over 149,000 books to Canadian at-risk children, especially vulnerable immigrant and Indigenous populations, with help from over 80 non-profit literacy groups.
Please help us in our new initiatives to give books to refugee children in Canada
